"Unfortunately disappointing" according to Aviation Prof. I was immediately drawn to Ray Holanda's 'History of Aviation Safety' and its description as the first book "that tells the story of the history of aviation safety from its origins to the present day" [back cover]. I think the industry needs a book to address this gap and I really wanted to like it for this reason. But there were simply too many shortcomings.I suspected t. "THE Classic on History of Aviation Safety" according to Gail A. Dunham. Holanda brings a lifetime of knowledge and experience to writing this book, and it is excellent. I learned so much about the early days of aviation, and landmark events that moved safety forward. Thank you Ray Holanda!

He lives near Cleveland, Ohio with his wife, Luretta. In his retirement years, he has been a member of the National Air Disaster Alliance/Foundation, a citizens' aviation safety advocacy group, and has represented the organization on a FAA Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee
