DESCRIPTION:

When quarrels and dissension affected Exodus in Alan's last years, he predicted its demise and explained how ministries would continue to succeed without it. What happens when a man finds himself sunk in a downward spiral of risky homosexual acts and he knows no way to escape? And when he is about to lose his prestigious and profitable career, along with his marriage, and even his life? The answer would have been certain tragedy for Alan Medinger if not for a praying wife and the mercy of God. Restored and inspired, he went on to establish a ministry for same-sex-attracted people (Regeneration of Baltimore, Maryland), where he and his wife, Willa, influenced hundreds to turn from homosexuality and seek holiness. Through Alan and Willa Medinger's story in By God's Design, you will learn the truth about homosexuality, its causes, its healing, and how the church can help.. Through their work with Exo

. For twenty years Judith Hartzell studied Christians' experiences overcoming same-sex attractions, and for a decade she served on an ex-gay ministry board of directors, all of which resulted in this book, the life-story of Alan Medinger and his wife, Willa. from the University of Michigan and published two biographies of Mayo Clinic s founding family. The mother of three grown children, she lives in South Carolina with her husband, Tom, and their dog,

They were pioneers in a difficult and often unrewarding work that brought new life to so many people. Although both accounts are useful, the encouraging biography of Alan and Willa Medinger gives the book vitality: putting a human face on homosexual attraction and God's power to cleanse and heal. Reading Judith Hartzell s book had me laughing and crying, remembering the man she s so well profiled. I worked alongside him in ministry for years, and his Christian testimony was solid and enduring. Thank you, Judith, for such a vulnerable telling of the life story of our beloved friends and valued mentors. "Factual Account" according to Amazon Customer. Very faithful to the facts of Alan Medinger's life story. Alan was my friend and his life changed completely by prayer, grace and work. He helped thousands and is still helping through his book: "Growth into Manhood" available through Amazon. "Fascinating and Helpful" according to Anita C. Dudek. Alan and Willa were among our best friends as a couple. We spent every New Year's Eve with them for the last several years. I knew that they had MANY best friends, but the fact that we could feel that way is another testimony to what a remarkable couple they were. We met them late in life and did not really know first hand the many twists and turns that their lives before knowing us had taken. What a joy it has been for me to sink into their arms again through this book. For those of us who have not experienced same sex attraction directly, this account helps a lot in knowing. reader-writer said I love that Alan and Willa's story is told warts and. I love that Alan and Willa's story is told warts and all. The gentle, compassionate, mentoring, fatherly soul of Alan is tenderly exposed along with his fears and struggles. Willa's not-so-gentle-at-times-but-always-direct, compassionate, nurturing, hopeful way of living is intimately shared along with her challenges as well. Their hearts were so sweet because they wanted to offer hope to strugglers on life's at times confusing, discouraging journey. I think they would be very pleased with this book. Thank you to the author for bringing all their labors into black and white.
