DESCRIPTION:
Restoring British Sports Cars. Excellent reference materials.. Many illustrations and detailed information
A Great Book for Beginning Auto Restorers Kevin Lindsey This book doesn't go into great detail about specific marques or engines, and isn't heavy into technical drawings or comparisons, and won't tell you how to win at Palm Beach, but if you're weighing the pros and cons of buying and restoring a British sports car and want to know what you're in for, this is the book for you. The author walks the neophyte all the way from choosing the right car to maintaining his or her finished beauty, and doesn't pull many punches. It was the first book I bought after I got my '67 MGB GT, and I still refer to it, if only for the pleasant writing s. "Far too general" according to Snorks. I'm finishing up the restoration of my '67 Sunbeam, and I can honestly say that nothing in this book was any help at all. It's just a lot of generalized concepts that don't relate to any particular car or provide much useful information. For example, I just now opened a random page and found that the author says, "One thing you don't want to mess around with is your battery, which will give you no end of grief if it's not up to snuff. I strongly recommend replacing a suspect battery with a high-quality, time-guaranteed replacement." Wow. What a revelation. I never would have tho. Classic home run! I purchased this book as a gift and it was a real hit! It was in perfect condition and the recipient couldn't have been happier!
