This book is not only helpful for those facing battles with drugs or alcoholit would be a helpful read for anyone facing any type of addiction. He points to the family background and its long term effects and simple processes and patterns within addiction. He points people to a new understanding of what it means to be a child of God and find our security and meaning through our Creator. It's well worth the price and time to read. I highly recommend it.. Tab said catchy title accompanied by a substantive perspective. A follow-on to his book, Becoming Who God Intended, Eckman illuminates a difficult topic by focusing on the intent of the words in scripture; going beyond the simple words, Eckman infuses the writing with an emotional meaning that makes these words come alive.. "Really Good book" according to Brian Shockley. This is a really good book, I was really suprised to how well it helped me. It really does well in approaching the addictive issue from a pastoral biblical psychological approach that keeps you near the Word without too much other stuff. I would say that it got ne really interested and helped a lot in parts but when the chapter ended I needed more and the author was already moving to the next issue. Great read though, prob won't solve all your issues with food, sex etc but will give you a basic understanding and provide some good thoughts and help.
