DESCRIPTION:

Key benefits:a hands-on approach that provides the reader with a sense of continuity and motivation for exploring communication system conceptsprovides invaluable preparation for industry, where software-defined digital radio is increasingly importantCD-ROM extras include lesson PDFs; final projects; "received signals" for assignments and projects; all MATLAR code presented in the text; a bonus chapter on QAM Radio. Chapter by chapter, the reader creates a MATLAB® realization of the various pieces of the system, exploring the key ideas along the way. This is accomplished using only knowledge of calculus, Fourier transforms, and MATT-AB. From the Back Cover The fundamental principles of telecommunic

Bradley B. Comar said Great Introduction to Modem Design. This book is a great introduction to digital modem design. I put together my first crude QPSK modem just before getting this book. I read a bunch of different articles and papers in order to design my modem pieces and put them together. Most of that reading was a waste of time. I wish that I had this book back then because it covers everything you need to design a basic modem such as AGC, pulse shape filtering, carrier recovery, symbol timing recovery, etc. This book is also VERY easy to understand. Anyone new to modem design should definitely get this book. You will get a simple understanding of all the modem parts, how they work, why th. "Excellent Job by Authors" according to N. R. Browdues. I'm an engineering student and took a 'transmission of information' class that talked about many subjects mentioned in this text. During the class, the whole concept of Matched Filtering, symbol recovery, etc was completely lost upon me because we treated it with mathematical rigor, not application specifics. This book breaks down the application. It doesn't have lengthy derrivations but gives you the essential information. I STRONGLY recommend it to anyone interested in how digital/analog communcations take place.. good book for learning comms Philip C. good book for learning comms, helped me understood several concepts from not having a comms and dsp background as I attemptto proceed on projects in sir
