John Anthony Adams said Magnificent book about the legendary Harris Company of Southern California's Inland Empire. The photos in this splendid book bring back countless delicious memories from my boyhood---the mezzanine with its organist, the new-fangled escalator, the ding-ding sounds of the paging system, the soda fountain, and a thousand other things. This was a legendary store in the history of San Bernardino County and it was run by a brilliant family of businessmen. A great story has been captured in the photos and their captions in this book. I highly recommend it.. Printed word addict said A VERY SPECIAL STORE. Wanted to read this book because The Harris Company' was my favorite store for many, many years. Am still devastated they did not make it through this bad economy, and probably will be for a long time There are seldom stores who so consistently and for so many years, put their customers first - came to know their customers so well, and treated them so well snd so 'careingly'.One time received a personal letter from one of the Harris' family thanking me for shopping withe them, saying how much fun the Salesperson had with me during our shopping experience. Rose Marie Powers said Looking back to the San Bernardino of my childhood. Thank you for taking me back to the good years of San Bernardino. Each trip to town ended with a visit to the Harris Company, or "Harris's". Unfortunatly, my family was too poor to shop at Harris Company, but walking under the impressive arch to gaze at the wonders the store held are some of my fondest memories. I left San Bernardino before the store fell on hard times. What a shock forty years later, to see the Harris Company building in the sad condition it is in. Through your wonderful book, I can relive the magic that was Harris's. Thank you again fo
