He obtained his Doctorate of Oriental Medicine (OMD) from American Graduate School of Oriental Medicine on the subject of "Shang Han Lun Formula Analysis" in 1985, and was given a Life Time Achievement Award from the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) in 2004. He is now in private practice in Corte Madera, California.
