DESCRIPTION:
This book defines the seven principles of good dressing - among them, Accessories Make an Outfit, Quality Never Goes Out of Style, Dress from the Top Down, and Visualize Yourself Beautiful - and explodes five clothing myths. In the process readers learn how to devise their individual, best dressing process, dressing plan, and dressing picture. What woman hasn't stood in front of a packed closet and thought, "I haven't a thing to wear." What she's really thinking, says Tracy McWilliams, is "I don't have anything to wear that looks good and makes me feel good." According to McWilliams, most women shop and dress from emotion. This book teaches them that they can dress logically with a bit of self-awareness and planning. McWilliams explains how to express inner beauty with smart clothing choices, without becoming slaves to trends that don't fit one's body or personality.
Better books out there janejudge Too much psychology and not enough strategiesTry "Ready to Wear", "The Pocket Stylist" or "Does This Make Me Look Fat?".. Jennifer said my thoughts. I have to say it's been an amazing book for me. The author herself could use a bit more of an open mind when it come to the actual fashion discussion (Birkenstocks or Danskos are never mentioned but plenty of other names were dropped!) but overall the exercises are top notch. I've been able to really follow the clear ideas and practical guidelines with a high rate of success. I would recommend this to anyone who's got determination to beat their own inner closet demons.. Dress to Express is a success Pamela Newcomb Dress to Express is a great down to earth approach to successful dressing. I found the Personality type profiles to be right on. We conducted a seminar with the women of my firm and they found it very enlightening. I believe some of the women were truly surprised at their personality type. For me the "classic" type it helped me better define my focus. Ms McWilliams has a winner here. I hope she's working on her next book! Pamela Newcomb
