DESCRIPTION:
J. Shryock said Fascinating EMT's Story. This is not only enjoyable reading, it is a fascinating look 'inside' the world of a practicing EMT and EMT instructor in the deep South. At the same time, it is both humorous and sobering with initially unexpected depth. I read the book in one sitting, because once started, it becomes difficult to put down.Kelly Grayson is what all EMTs should aspire to not just competence, but excellence. He shows a refreshing kind of compassion, kindness and understanding not seen often enough in today's complex medical establishment.En Route is enjoyable on many levels not the least of. An honest look at EMS Scott Clearman Kelly has managed to share a large part of what it's like to be a paramedic. From the laugh out loud funny, to the tear stained tragedy, Kelly shares the many feelings and experiences of 'doing the job'. For those that have ever wondered what it was like to be a paramedic, this book will give you some idea of the reality. It takes a special kind of person to see and do the things Kelly talks about. It takes an even more special person to tell the stories in a way that makes you laugh or cry along with him.Excellent reading, highly entertaining.. "A true "laugh out loud" book" according to S. N. Goddard. I have read "Kelly" Grayson's book several times, and everytime I read it I cry and I laugh. Mr. Grayson truly encaptures the essence of EMS, both the business and personal aspects. I truly enjoy reading this book everytime I go through it. I would recommend this book to anyone involved in EMS or interested in what the "real world" of EMS is like. Kudos to Kelly Grayson, I look forward to many more stories.

Stephen "Kelly" Grayson has seen the best of us at our worst. His touching stories of life and death and the hilarious ones of times in between are here to give us an insight of what happens after we call 911, the ambulance doors close, or even what happens inside the ER when the nurse shows the family to the waiting room.. When hearts stop working, when blood alcohol levels exceed limits we shouldn’t contemplate, when bodies are extricated from car wrecks, he's been there to pick up the pieces, save our lives, and watch us slip away
