DESCRIPTION:
From the reviews:“This book is aimed at engineering and cognitive science researchers interested in evolutionary robotics techniques for the design of self-organizing group behaviors.” (IEEE Control Systems Magazine, Vol. 30, June, 2010)
Excellent book It is an excellent book that includes very detailed and clear review of the key ideas on swarm robotics systems and present practical experimental techniques and results. I highly recommend to every researcher who is interested in modern robotics and in contemporary engineering in general. In addition, it can be used as a source for the students laboratory projects and can bring inspiring ideas for further research.
The book tries to mediate between two apparently opposed perspectives: engineering and cognitive science. In this book the use of ER techniques for the design of self-organising group behaviours, for both simulated and real robots is introduced. The experiments presented in the book and the results obtained contribute to the assessment of ER not only as a design tool, but also as a methodology for modelling and understanding intelligent adaptive behaviours.
