DESCRIPTION:

"But.!" according to Rose. Yes, I'm fat too and her chapter on fat is absolutely awful and hurtful. BUT this is the best herb book ever! I've had great success with her potions on colds and flu and such. And she's got a lot of old stuff that would otherwise be forgotten. I forgive her for being a bigot. I love her book.. Offensively fat-phobic Zoe MN I always thought this looked like such a nice book with its homey hand-drawn illustrations, so while ordering some other herbals, i decided to finally buy it. Wish i had looked at it beforehand. Now i can get down with eating healthy and feeling strong and fit, but the first chapter i opened to, entitled "Fat and How Not to Be" was shockingly body-shaming and self-hating. It actually includes in the supposed remedy for obesity to "get some pictures of very fat people and label them with appropriately disgusting labels", and to look at yourself naked in the mirror in order to disgust yourself enough to want to do somethi. Prettysmartideas said MY FIRST HERBAL BOOK: Still the greatest. I came across this book in the 70's, and I loved it into tatters (so I had to buy another one!). This is still one of my go-to herbal books, simply because it is quirky, and it is like an old best friend). Rose is an excellent researcher, and she has all sorts of historical and esoteric information in this book. For those who don't like her information on fat/weight-loss, I suggest they just flip past it and read the other good stuff. I mean, some people don't want to be healed of other physical ills - I mean, God gave them to them, didn't He? Just go to what it is you want to know. This book has that in it.17 years ago,

Graduate studies in Hawaii and California introduced her to historical and contemporary herb use. Marine biologist Jeanne Rose grew up the skeptical daughter of an herb-loving French-Canadian/Puerto Rican family. A terrible car accident provided the time and space for Jeanne to further her research and write this book. She now runs New Age Creations and the Institute of Aromatic Stud
