DESCRIPTION:
Look elsewhere I got this book and I ahve to say it is absolutely aweful. He basically lists a few formulas without any rigor, gives an extremely brief description of different types of lasers and such, and spends way too much time on a brief history of lidar which is again not very good. The entire book, which is already small for a book falsely boasting a strong foundation from the bottom up in lidar, is double spaced and full of typos. It looks like some failed PhD student's thesis. The book Elastic Lidar is far better and does exactly what this book claims to attempt.
The reader will first get an idea about the history of laser and introductory knowledge on the electromagnetic theory. Then the book familiarizes with basic important definitions of terms such as stimulated emission of radiation, population inversion, spontaneous emission, absorption, laser, lidar, maser, radar, water vapor mixing ratio, water vapor density, etc Some basic equations used in lidar and some lidar techniques are also introduced. Raman Lidar system has an extraordinary ability to sense accurately water's high temporal and spatial structure in the atmosphere. This book is a review of the electromagnetic theory. This book provides laser and lidar professionals and students with some basics learning tools in the field of lidar, laser instrumentation, and data analysis. Water vapor is one of the most important atmospheric va
