Even Better than the First! As I was reading this second instalment in the Mark Julian series, I felt that the author had hit his stride! Mark and human lover Detective Vinnie were back as well as Mark's delightful secretary sex demon - incubus Jaime. This character is a wonderful edition to the series and played a major role in this story. The author again drew on historical facts to flesh out his story which I think added a lot of flavour and dimension to the novel. Even our charming in. Entertaining Reading M. A. Pfleger Because of an extraordinarily busy theatrical schedule, I'd not been able to finish "The Strega's Touch until very recently. What a difference in editing! I wish I'd marked down the specifics, but there were only a couple of moments that I caught an odd phrasing or misuse of punctuation, so they really didn't disturb the flow of the story nor the entertainment it provided! Since others have discussed the plot, I'll not encumber this review of the same. The pace. Michel Grasley said A much better effort.. I was reticent about reading this book because the previous Mark Julian volumewell, while it was fun, it needed some editing and focus. I'm pleased to say this book has all of that, albeit in a manner not intended by the author, I'm certain. The story is simple -- Mark Julian, vampire detective, is hired to find the killer of a much-beloved dog, a job he sloughs off to Jaime, his sex-changing assistant. Then Tortego, the head of the vampire clans, demands Mark

To complicate matters further Vinnie’s mother has a personal request: find out who killed and mutilated her best friend’s dog. With Jaime’s itching to join in the cases will it all come out well in the end or, is war and a breakup on the horizons. But Mark is knee deep in his own problems. With a horrific werewolf vs. vampire civil war now looming the crafty Tortego has once more turned to Mark Julian for help in finding the lost prince. Also two bonus stories: The Case That Marked the Beginning and The Panicky Case of the Cucciolo di lupo.. After the first rushes of romance his relationship with the very human Detective Vinnie Pasquale is getting tricky. The crown prince of the werewolf clan has disappeared and Tortego, his vampire enemy on the city’s supernatural governing body, is suspected
