Bayard Rustin's writings encourage us to be the best of who we were created to be Cyrus Webb I have to admit that until 2014 I had no idea who Bayard Rustin was, but after reading TIME ON TWO CROSSES I know that I was doing myself a disservice.He was not only a man who was historical in nature in his own right, but was ahead of his time in a lot of his beliefs and subjects that he chose to dialogue about during his lifetime.The book is a collection of his writings and takes us into not just issues of race, class and discrimination but what it should mean for all o. Richard Harrold said Important and relevant writings, even today. There are some really important essays here, all very readable and important today. I found Rustin's thoughts on the emergence of Black Studies quite interesting.I think the most important take away for me was the realization how important intersectionality was to Rustin. It is critical to anyone who is fighting for social justice. Also, his description of this time in jail was really interesting. I'm wondering why someone hasn't produced a biopic film about him.. but good to know that at least some of the bus Fascinating first hand account of the Civil Rights Movement from the inside. The details of bus and train rides through the South are enlightening. It gets down to the reactions of many individuals. Hard to read some of the accounts of arrests and mistreatment, but good to know that at least some of the bus drivers and train conductors, shop owners and fellow passengers came to the aid of fellow travelers.
