Great book by a wonderful TCM practitioner K. Ashton This most recent book out by Dr Zhang is a great one that breaks down how to eat for your constitution, in season and for balance. After an introduction to TCM theories the authors describe herbs, plants, spices, fruits and vegetables and their powers and abilities to heal ailments, in addition to preventative health. They include simple tonics, soups and recipes for food combining and are easy to follow and highly effective. I love the chapter on functional foods and the areas of holistic well-being however the best part is the fold-out chart at the back of the book . An excellent book on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Food I really enjoy seeing my acupuncturist locally and have wanted to learn more about acupuncture and traditional chinese medicine, particularly with regard to food since it is such an important component of health. I have read other books on TCM and food and found them to be overwhelming or confusing (or I feel like everything I"m eating is wrong based on the descriptions of the foods) but this book is truly written by a veteran who has I believe 3 decades of experience in TCM. She makes the subject accessible, welcoming and I felt empowered and more knowledgable after . Excellent Book! This book gives you a good basic grounding on TCM, the chapters flowed nicely, anyone who wants to get an understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine should read this book, it will be an eye opener. In fact I will go so far as to say if you want to live a healthy life follow what the authors are saying. Good reading
