DESCRIPTION:

Treasure of BMT maps Arthur Cohn I liked all the old BMT Maps and the info on the unique Green Hornet, Zephyr, and Blue Bird cars. I missed explanations of why it's the 4th Ave but Fifth Ave lines. What is the black line at the Manhattan end of the Brooklyn Bridge? It looks as if the bridge lines are going into the subway near City Hall. I would liked to have more information on the BMT's evaluation process in ordering their novel cars. What did they dislike about the A/B Standards when they ordered the D multi's?. How many times can you show the (almost) same map? History of the BMT thru Company Maps. Should read History of the BMT thru Company Map. The changes between maps is very subtle (being a heavy subway/elevated system, change is slow). I like maps and enjoyed the book.. Robert P. said History of BMT. Excellent comprehensive history. Reproductions of maps are excellent and additional information on trolleys is an added bonus.Extremely well done.

Includes full color images of every map and service guide issued by the company as well as brochures for all of the experimental cars in its roster. The section on trolleys also includes excerpts from the BMT Monthly describing the PCC car. A must-have for anyone interested in the history of the New York Subway System. Finally, it includes a map of the BMT trolley and bus routes as well as the service guide the BMT issued for its bus services. A history of the Brooklyn Manhattan Transit Corporation from 1923-1939 as seen through original source documents such as maps, guides and brochures. This book expands upon the first edition, adding information about some of the BMT subway cars and trolley routes.
