She reveals the progression of queer cinema from it's origins and gets beyond the obvious choices to the films that made the obvious choices, more mainstream films possible. And unlike most scholarly studies she plants her theory squarely in the context of those times. The memoir aspect of this book is so evocative and covers a period that has rarely if ever been written about; a behind the scenes socio-political and very personal archive of events. I know the more mainstream works but it was great learning about the indie side of things. I am going to pass this along top a friend whop really loves the genre! Fantastic book for a film fan!!
