DESCRIPTION:
An original and accessible take on the architectural dictionary, this book takes you on a visual tour of the buildings and structures around us.. This innovative and unique book is a visual guide to the buildings that surround us, naming all the visible architectural features. Unlike other architectural dictionaries, the reader doesn't have to know the name before looking it up
Gary Roberts said Great for both experienced & novice. A true architectural gem that dissects buildings of various periods and in the process identifies the various parts. Clearly articulated through the use of detailed photographs. A real treasure! Fantastic resource for students.. A very good intro, excellent visuals and glossary, a tad Eurocentric. This book has a slightly misleading title--it's primarily European and American. You'd not find much here in how to read Japanese or Burmese architecture, except insofar as the current Western style dominates world buildings. The selection of structures is quite good, the drawings are very good, as are the photos. The glossary of terms is very useful. This book is most useful for a general reader interested in architecture. Great book, very easy to read Edy Ny Great book, very easy to read, great visuals explaining building details. Highly recommend it if you are looking to learn about the language of architecture
