The more advanced concepts in elasticity and stress are analyzed and introduced gradually, accompanied by even more examples and engineering applications in addition to numerous illustrations.Chapter problems are carefully arranged from the basic to the more challenging. The author presents many examples and applications to review and support several foundational concepts. The author covers computer methods, including FEA and computational/equation-solving software, and, in many cases, classical and numerical/computer approaches.. Noted for its practical, student-friendly approach to graduate-level mechanics, this volume is considered one of the top referencesfor students or professioalson the subject of elasticity and stress in construction

132, No. Ugural's book thoroughly explains how stresses in beam, plate, and shell structures can be predicted and analyzed.Mechanical Engineering, Vol. 6, June 2010

"worse book ever for a plates and shells class" according to Jackie Tran. has a lot of typos in the book the editors should definitely go over the book. I almost failed the class because the book was so bad. you think because the editor took out a bunch of things such as step by step process in obtaining the answer that the book would at least have correct answers, but it doesn't, in fact the opposite. one of the worse book out there.. A nice book Luiz Joaquim I liked the good compromise between theory and practical examples. I have been satisfied with the book and recommend it.. I ended up with a paperback copy of the book Brian I ended up with a paperback copy of the book which had stickers covering the fact that it was an international edition of the book. However, this proved to not be a problem since the book was exactly the same as the hardcover version including problems and units. So I have no problem with the book but it is worth knowing that this can happen.
