Author Mirco De Cet notes the most famous designers, machines, racers and companies. The book includes 750 color photographs, many of which have never been seen before since many of the machines featured have been discontinued and now exist solely in private collections or museums around the world. This book contains the histories of 100 notable motorcycle manufacturers, recounting in colorful detail their dramatic ascents and declines or, in the luckiest cases, their continued and dazzling successes. With the aid of the companies and private individuals, Mirco De Cet has unearthed as many classic machines as he could and brushed off the dust to reveal them to you in their full glory.
"Great book for text and photo history of motorcycles" according to Dustin H. Raised and educated in England, Mirco De Cet developed a passion for motorcycles. Mirco De Cet owns a very functional, no frills Yamaha 900 Diversion, which, he says modestly, serves him well. Born directly after the Second World War, he spent the first years of his life in a country decimated by war. In the early 1980s, he took a position in a London publishing house, writing for a motorcycle and car magazine as well as testing and riding a variety of machines. He has written, edited and taken photographs for many motorcycle books. Through an apprenticeship in motor mechanics, he learned about cars and bikes, eventually owning several machines himself, and investing in several Italian machines upon his return to Italy. .
